Biography

I, Sandip Mishra, am a PhD candidate at the Paleobiology Lab of Department of Earth Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research-Kolkata. My research focuses on analyzing the broad-scale evolutionary dynamics of echinoids throughout the Cenozoic. Aside from research, art has been a passion of mine since childhood. When I was introduced to the subject during my undergrads, I realized I could merge my artistic skills with paleontology. Since science is incomplete without art and art also involves science, I aspire to integrate these two disciplines to continue creating paleoart. My pursuit is to bring lost life forms on canvas and help visualize the rich tapestry of biodiversity. Additionally, I enjoy sculpting with clay. My goal is to blend my artistic and paleontological expertise to shed new light to events which happened in deep time, thus enriching the field of paleontology.
