Strimple AwardKnow of an amateur or avocational paleontologist who has furthered the field of paleontology? Please recognize that person by nominating them for the Paleontological Society Strimple Award. The Strimple Award recognizes outstanding achievement in paleontology by amateurs (someone who does not make a living full-time from paleontology). Contributions may be an outstanding record of research and publication, making outstanding collections, safeguarding unique paleontological materials through public service, teaching activities in the area of paleontology, and collaborations with others working in paleontology. This award comes with $2000 to be used towards travel to the Paleo Society annual banquet held at the annual GSA meeting. Deadline: February 1 Nominations received after this date will be held for the next year. Nominations will be active for three years after receipt, but may be updated yearly, at the discretion of the nominator. Who May Nominate? How to Nominate:
All nominations must be submitted electronically by completing and submitting this form. The nomination must be submitted in a single PDF file as a form attachment. Please note -- nominations that include letters of support from multiple people tend to be more competitive. The selectee will be asked to complete a PS Professional Conduct Self-Reporting Form at the time the award is decided by the committee, as prescribed in the Paleontological Society Policy on Non-Discrimination and Member Code of Conduct. If, for any reason, a nominee is uncomfortable about completing the form, they are welcome to contact a member of the ethics committee for a confidential conversation in advance. An email confirmation of receipt will be sent to all nominators. For more information, contact Rowan Lockwood, Chair, Strimple Award Committee. |
